Pismo Coast Village RV Resort
We
timed it right as they were hosting the “2012
Vintage Trailer Rally” and
everyday we watched these wonderful old RV’s driving in.
Some were like silver bullets (Air Stream)
and others were like the early English style caravans. The oldest dated back to 1937.
By the time we left we were surrounded by
these gorgeous vehicles and some were only big enough for a dog! They also had classic vintage cars on
display.
Paso Robles
Our
next destination was a match made in heaven.
We booked into “Wine Country RV
Resort” in Paso Robles. A 5 star
paradise that just happen to be celebrating the 30th Annual Wine
Festival!
The
first thing that hit us was the heat. We
travelled only 30 miles north-east yet it was a good 10 degrees hotter. The vineyards were thriving in the perfect
warm days and cool nights. We were in
winery wonderland.
Got
a taxi to Paso Robles and looked around the Wine Festival location. The buildings were quite unique.
Found an awesome sweet/lolly/gelato shop,
best in the world. They sold every type of
chocolate you could imagine. The choice
was mind blowing.
Got
back to the Resort just in time to participate in the Wine Tasting
Extravaganza. Don’t know why I got
excited as only 3 wineries out of 16 had any decent Chardonnay.
The red was in abundance. Al was happy but his face was going as red as
the Merlot he was drinking. By 6pm
everyone was pissed as newts. We were
looking forward to a raucous night but the campers were dropping like
flies. These oldies just can’t take it….lights
out by 8pm.
Carmel-By-The-Sea
This
is where Clint Eastwood lives. The main
street of Carmel-By-The-Sea reminds me of a larger scale Hastings Street, Noosa. Every other car was a Porsche, BMW, Bentley –
shame I left my Mercedes at home!
There
were loads of trendy boutiques and expensive art galleries and Allen commented
everyone had proper haircuts (not like his Forrest Gump one).
Carmel had lovely dog
friendly beaches and the real estate was cream of the crop.
Drove
to “Saddle
Mountain RV Park” Carmel Valley and noticed a sign
informing us of the Camp
Rules:
A short while ago we were mixing with the
city slickers and now we’re in “Deliverance” country.
2012 Monster Jam – Salinas Sports Complex
Change
hats again….this time we joined 17,000 all American big wheel enthusiasts to
watch some crazy driving.
The crowd
really got behind their favourite drivers, with lots of cheering and flag
waving.
You know you’ve had a good time when your ears are ringing; you’re choking
on fumes and covered in dust!
